The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says it has uncovered a cocaine trafficking syndicate attempting to smuggle drugs to Malaysia, leading to the arrest of an alleged mastermind, a PhD student at the University of Putra, Malaysia, in Anambra State.
The suspect, identified as 45-year-old Nwabueze Felix Onyeka, was arrested during a sting operation in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State on Monday, June 29, 2026.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi, Onyeka's arrest followed the interception of a Malaysia-bound shipment containing 5.80 kilograms of cocaine concealed within the walls of nine cartons of Orijin Bitters.
The consignment formed part of a consolidated cargo destined for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
