The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and parts of Maharashtra and Gujarat as a depression over the Bay of Bengal is set to bring heavy to very heavy rainfall. Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are also expected to witness intense monsoon activity. Authorities have advised people to avoid unnecessary travel, especially in landslide-prone areas, while fishermen have been asked not to venture into the sea.
