Malcolm and Malanee Pillay.
A wedding at one of Durban's oldest Hindu temples has become more than a celebration of love for Wyebank resident Malcolm Pillay – it is a tribute to his family's legacy and a continuation of traditions spanning four generations.
Pillay, 35, of Wyebank, a brewing operator at SAB's Prospecton Brewery and a part-time farmer, married Malanee Naidu (now Pillay), 31, an administrator, at the Arul Migu Gilletts Shree Thooya Gengaiamman Alayam, affectionately known as the "Riverside Park" Temple, on Saturday.
The bride's dad, Guru Cyril Naidu, is the priest of the Motala Heights and Gilletts temples.
The ceremony marked a historic milestone: it was the first wedding held at the temple, with the marriage solemnised by the bride's brother, Rajen Naidu.
