An arranged marriage that began five decades ago has blossomed into a lifelong partnership built on love, resilience and unwavering faith for Jakes and Indrani Naidoo, who celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday.

The Metcalf, Tongaat couple renewed their wedding vows during a special celebration at the Shree Veeraboga Emperumal Temple, surrounded by family and friends.

Jakes, 76, a retired physical science teacher, and Indrani, 67, were married on June 27, 1976, following an arranged marriage.

Jakes spent his teaching career at Stanger Secondary School before later joining Crawford International. He retired in 2015 after decades in education.
