TACLOBAN CITY, LEYTE, Philippines — A 50-year-old vendor was arrested late Saturday night after he was caught allegedly sexually abusing a pet dog inside a residence in Barangay 69 Anibong in this city, police said.
The suspect, identified only by the alias “Doming,” of San Jorge, Samar, now faces charges for violation of Republic Act No. 8485, or the Animal Welfare Act of 1998, as amended, specifically its provisions prohibiting animal sexual abuse.
Police said the incident occurred at around 11:55 p.m. on Saturday, July 4, after the suspect had been invited by a member of the complainant’s family to join a drinking session at their house.
