Anakapalli police facilitated a one-day temporary release (parole) for a person named B. Kondala Rao, under the PIT NDPS Act, to attend his mother’s funeral in his native village. The initiative, taken on the directions of Anakapalli Superintendent of Police Tuhin Sinha, drew appreciation from the detainee’s family members and villagers, who expressed gratitude to the district police for their prompt and compassionate response during their time of grief.Mr. Rao was detained on July 14, 2025 for smuggling narcotics. His mother, B Paiditallamma, 50, passed away on Saturday. Following her death, family members and elderly in the village approached the Anakapalli district police seeking permission for Kondala Rao to attend the funeral. The SP submitted a report to the State government recommending temporary parole on humanitarian grounds.Acting on the recommendation, the authorities issued emergency parole orders. Under strict police escort, Kondala Rao was brought to M. Kotapadu village on Sunday, where he participated in his mother’s funeral and performed the final rites before being taken back into custody.
