A 33-year-old woman was allegedly drugged and sexually assaulted by two men at Sulur in Coimbatore. They also allegedly threatened to release a video of the assault.According to police, the woman, who has been living separately from her husband, became acquainted with Anthony Mariya Robin (28), who allegedly promised to marry her and developed a relationship with her.Robin later introduced her to his associate, Girish Samal Kumar. The two men allegedly administered an intoxicating substance to the woman before sexually assaulting her. They are also accused of recording the assault on a mobile phone and threatening to circulate the video if she revealed the incident to anyone.Following a complaint lodged by the survivor at the All Women Police Station, the police registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Robin was arrested on Friday. Kumar was on the run, and a search was on to apprehend him. Further investigation is under way. Published - July 04, 2026 06:40 pm IST
