Eighty-three candidates were absent for the Paper I Special Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) for secondary grade teachers held in Coimbatore district on Saturday (July 4).Following a direction of the Supreme Court, graduate teachers working in Tamil Nadu’s primary and middle schools are required to qualify in the Teacher Eligibility Test.The Paper I examination for secondary grade teachers was conducted from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at eight centres across Coimbatore district. Of the 2,230 teachers registered for the examination, 2,147 appeared while 83 remained absent.The Paper II Special TET for graduate teachers will be held on Sunday (July 5).
