The Philippines received 2.9 million foreign arrivals in the first half of the year, with Americans accounting for over 591,500.
The growth reflects the Philippines' ongoing efforts to deepen partnerships with U.S. travel companies and airlines, industry insiders said.
At the general membership meeting of the American Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines last month, Tourism Secretary Dita Angara-Mathay said her ministry seeks to intensify the tourism and investment partnerships with the U.S., Philstar newspaper reported.
"We no longer see tourism simply as promotion; we see it as a platform for long-term investment."
