Minister of Finance Enoch Godongwana.
Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana said he is unaware whether the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) had been asked to identify the origins of the financial proceeds in the sale of buffaloes on President Cyril Ramaphosa’s Phala Phala farm.
Responding to recent parliamentary questions from MK Party MP Des van Rooyen, Godongwana said even if the FIC may have done an analysis, his hands were tied in sharing such a report because ordinarily, it was not shared with him.
“I am not aware whether the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) has received requests to determine the origin of the financial proceeds realised as a result of the alleged sale of buffaloes on the Phala Phala farm.
“It should be noted that information that the FIC may have been requested to analyse and information generated by its analysis is confidential information and may only be disclosed as provided for in the Financial Intelligence Centre Act,” he said.
