During Russia's latest large-scale attack on the night of July 2, Ukrainian air defenses intercepted about 90% of the attacking drones, while nearly all cruise missiles were destroyed. Ballistic missiles, however, remain the primary threat.

Yurii Ihnat, head of the Communications Department of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, stated this on Ukrainian Radio, Ukrinform reports.

"The overall interception rate for the enemy's attack drones is around 90%. Nearly all cruise missiles were shot down. Information regarding two missiles is still being verified, but there have been no reports of impacts so far. All components of the Defense Forces engaged in countering the aerial attack did everything possible. The only remaining weakness is ballistic missiles, and this capability needs to be strengthened," Ihnat said.

According to him, Ukrainian forces intercepted 28 of the 70 ballistic missiles launched during the overnight attack on July 2.
