Around 18 students of a Government Middle School in Gingee fell sick after eating chocolates distributed during a birthday celebration in the school on Friday.According to the police, the chocolates were distributed by a Class VI student who was celebrating her birthday with her classmates. After several students complained of stomach pain and vomiting, teachers immediately rushed them to the Gingee General Hospital.Investigation by authorities revealed that the chocolates given to the students had expired following which the shop that sold them was sealed.Further investigations are on.Ends Published - July 03, 2026 08:30 pm IST
