He started returning to his old home and squatting in the garage, while simultaneously harassing Miles and Melina.‌The couple were forced to call the police countless times as JT would throw rocks and bricks through their windows, and even made threats to come back and "kill" Miles. He would bang and kick at their door at all hours of the night, convinced Miles was his enemy, although Miles had never done anything to suggest this was the case. His constant harassment led to Miles staying up all night with a baseball bat outside the front of the house, so his wife and children could sleep safely.‌They later made the tough decision to move into an apartment and felt instant relief. However, when Miles returned to his old neighbourhood on an errand one day, JT was there with a gun and shot him dead.In July 2024, Jamal Thomas was convicted of first degree murder and in April 2025, he was sentenced to 28.8 years to life in prison. As for where he is now, he is still serving his prison sentence and is just over a year in.‌Recalling the moment she found out about her husband, Melina, who was heavily pregnant at the time of his death, said in tears: "I was sitting at my desk, working, and never in my life have I felt a feeling the way I had felt."It was like for a quick moment he was there, then I felt him, so close. And [then] he felt, like, so far. And then I just started balling, crying."It was the weirdest experience. I just had this, like, panic. I called, and I kept calling.Article continues below"He wasn't a texter but he always picked up my phone calls, and he didn't pick up. So I literally waddle all the way back to the bedroom, putting clothes on, and I'm like, 'I have to go to the house, I have to find him, something's wrong'."When she approached their former home, she could see a coroner's van and police tape, as well as her husband's car and knew the worst had happened.Worst Neighbor Ever is on Netflix
