Marc-André ter Stegen is heading to Amsterdam. Ajax and FC Barcelona have reached an agreement on a loan deal that will see the German goalkeeper join the Dutch club through June 2027.
Ter Stegen, 34, has been one of Europe’s elite goalkeepers for the better part of a decade.
How the deal came together
Negotiations between the two clubs accelerated through late June 2026, with Ajax submitting a formal proposal centered primarily on the wage structure.
Ajax agreed to cover the majority of ter Stegen’s wages, which made the economics work for a Barcelona side that has been managing its books carefully.
