In the U.S. markets were closed.
In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 gained 0.5% in morning trading. Aalberts added 4.3% and A.P. Moeller-Maersk B rose 3.5%. On the other hand, EQT slipped 1.9%, and Redcare Pharmacy lost 1.7%. The FTSE 100 added 0.3%. Other stocks in Europe were up as France's CAC 40 increased 0.3% and Germany's DAX climbed 0.8%.
The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index fell 0.2% to 97.05.
In commodities, Brent crude climbed 0.3% to $72.02 a barrel, and WTI crude gained 0.3% to $68.93 a barrel. The European benchmark price for natural gas, the Dutch futures contract TTF, was up 0.5% to 44.45 euros a megawatt hour.
The German 10-year Bund yield climbed by 1 basis point to 2.917% from 2.907%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury held steady at 4.49%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.
