In German political circles, the view is increasingly being expressed that Europe should learn from Ukraine’s experience, and support for our country is increasingly linked to its victory and the establishment of peace for the entire continent.
Oleksii Makeev, Ukraine’s ambassador to Germany, made this statement in an interview with Ukrinform.
When asked what the most common formula for supporting Ukraine is among German politicians today, the diplomat noted that there is a certain mix, but that “tremendous progress” is being made.
“I can’t say with absolute certainty. It’s a certain mix. But I see tremendous progress: from the phrases ‘as much as is needed’ and ‘Ukraine must not lose’ to ‘we will support Ukraine so that it wins and secures peace for all of Europe, and therefore for us as well,’” Makeev said.
According to him, recent months have brought another important shift in the attitude of the German political elite.
