The report noted that the killings and kidnappings continue despite the various security operations touted by the Tinubu administration.

A new mid-year investigative report has condemned the President Bola Tinubu-led Nigerian government and raised fresh concerns over the scale of insecurity in Nigeria, alleging that thousands of Nigerians were killed or abducted during the first six months of 2026.

The report noted that the killings and kidnappings continue despite the various security operations touted by the Tinubu administration.

Released on Thursday, the mid-year report by the International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law (Intersociety) described a worsening humanitarian and security crisis affecting several states across northern, central and parts of southern Nigeria.

The organisation noted that attacks by armed groups intensified during the review period, leading to widespread killings, kidnappings, destruction of places of worship and mass displacement of communities.
