Yoel Levy is a gentle and positive young man. He is a fitness coach based in Manchester in the UK. On social media, he is known as “The Jewish Fitness Coach”. Over the last two years, he has run marathons in London, Sydney, Toronto, New York, Panama, Costa Rica, Mexico, Miami, Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Paris, and Boston. In May this year, he came to South Africa to run the Cape Town Marathon. After running marathons all over the world, he expected the same interest, excitement and kindness that he found everywhere, in Cape Town. Instead, he was met with a tsunami of hate, intimidation and threats.
The reason for this hate is that Yoel has been running these marathons in honour of the murdered Bibas boys. Ariel Bibas, four years old, and Kfir Bibas, nine months old, were kidnapped from Israel together with their mother Shiri, by Hamas on October 7, 2023. They were held hostage and then later killed by terrorists in Gaza. The postmortem showed that they had been murdered with bare hands.
