The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested nine suspects in connection with a violent clash at a wedding ceremony that left one person dead and three others injured in Gara Village, Kurmi Ward, Burra District of Ningi Local Government Area.
The command also confirmed the arrest of three additional suspects over a separate incident in Kirfi Local Government Area, where a naming ceremony turned violent, resulting in the death of a 27-year-old man.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, the first incident followed a report received at the Burra Divisional Police Headquarters on June 29, 2026.
Habib said investigations revealed that the violence occurred on June 26 during a wedding ceremony organised by a 25-year-old resident of Gara Village, identified as Bilya Yahaya.
He explained that a disagreement among some youths at the event escalated into a physical confrontation, leaving four persons with varying degrees of injuries.
