CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — Oriental Mindoro Second District Rep. Alfonso Umali Jr. is appealing to the Department of Energy (DOE) and the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) to immediately intervene and help address the province’s persistent power supply problems and rising electricity costs affecting consumers served by the Oriental Mindoro Electric Cooperative (Ormeco).

In a letter dated June 30 and addressed to Energy Secretary Sharon Garin, Umali urged the DOE and ERC to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the factors behind the unusually high electricity rates, recurring power interruptions, and the quality of electric service in the province.
