Prime Minister Mark Carney has made closer relations with the continent a core part of his strategy, repeatedly describing Canada as the “most European of non-European countries” and calling for new alliances among mid-sized countries in areas beyond food, energy and defence.The country’s government had said it would explore Eurovision participation when publishing its budget in November, allocating $150 million in 2025 and 2026 to strengthen the mandate of CBC/Radio-Canada.
