This is the first new country to join the contest since 2015
Canada is set to make its Eurovision Song Contest debut in 2027, becoming the first new country to join the famous competition since Australia entered in 2015.
The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and CBC/Radio-Canada confirmed the news on Wednesday, calling it a major moment for Canadian music and culture.
Marie-Philippe Bouchard, president and CEO of Canada’s public broadcaster, said he was “so excited” to bring “the world’s largest live music event to Canadian audiences.”
Canada will compete for the first time at the 2027 contest in Bulgaria. The country earned the right to host after Bulgarian singer DARA won Eurovision 2026 with “Bangaranga”, giving Bulgaria its first-ever victory in the competition.
