Democratic Alliance leader Geordin Hill-Lewis has vowed that the DA will publicly challenge the ANC whenever it refuses to compromise on major policy issues.

Democratic Alliance (DA) leader Geordin Hill-Lewis says the ANCcan no longer govern as if it still holds an outright majority and has vowed that the DA will publicly challenge the party whenever it refuses to compromise on key policy issues within the Government of National Unity (GNU).

Hill-Lewis was addressing party members and supporters in Sandton, where he said the ANC needed to accept that it no longer had a mandate to govern as it had in the past.

The GNU was formed after the ANC lost its parliamentary majority in the May 2024 general election and entered into a coalition arrangement.

The coalition includes the DA, Patriotic Alliance, Inkatha Freedom Party, GOOD, Pan Africanist Congress, Freedom Front Plus, United Democratic Movement, Al Jama-ah and Rise Mzansi.
