Family, friends, and anti-gender-based violence (GBV) activists will gather in KwaXimba near Cato Ridge on Friday for a candlelight prayer vigil in honour of Asanda Mkhize, who was allegedly shot dead by her former boyfriend. The event serves to celebrate her life while raising critical awareness about the ongoing scourge of gender-based violence.
Family, friends and anti-gender-based violence (GBV) activists will gather in KwaXimba near Cato Ridge, on Friday for a candlelight prayer wake in honour of Asanda Mkhize, who was allegedly murdered by her former boyfriend over the weekend.
According to reports, Mkhize was allegedly shot dead on Saturday after her former boyfriend insisted they meet to talk.
It is alleged that he had repeatedly asked to speak with her, but she had declined. When they eventually met, he allegedly drew a firearm and shot her in the head.
She was declared dead at the scene.
