The police have arrested a 45-year-old man for allowing his 15-year-old son to ride a motorcycle after the minor allegedly caused an accident in Kilpauk that left a police officer injured. The juvenile was apprehended and produced before the Juvenile Justice Board.According to the police, Special Sub-Inspector Muthukrishnan of T.P. Chatram police station was on vehicle checking duty near the T.P. Chatram police booth on Garden Road in Kilpauk at around 1.55 a.m. on Wednesday (July 1, 2026) along with Home Guards Gokul and Geeth Kumar.When the officers attempted to stop a motorcycle speeding from east to west, the rider allegedly ignored their signal and rammed into Special Sub-Inspector Muthukrishnan. He sustained injuries to the back of his head, near both his eyes, and on his left thigh. He was admitted to the Government Kilpauk Medical College (KMC) Hospital.Based on a complaint lodged by Home Guard Gokul (28), the Kilpauk Traffic Investigation Wing registered a case and launched an investigation. During the probe, the police found that the 15-year-old boy was riding the motorcycle causing the accident. The boy was apprehended on July and produced before the Juvenile Justice Board for appropriate legal action.The police also arrested the boy’s father, Sandeep Kumar (45), a resident of T.P. Chatram, for permitting a person below the legal driving age to operate the motorcycle. Sandeep Kumar was produced before a court and remanded in judicial custody.The Greater Chennai Traffic Police have urged motorists to drive responsibly, strictly follow traffic rules and regulations, and always value human life while driving.
