A classic British dessert has topped the list of the world's top 50 'best frozen desserts'.According to global restaurant guide Taste Atlas, it was traditional clotted cream ice cream - enjoyed for decades in the UK, as a way to cool down during the summer months - that won over other frosty sweet treats, including beloved Italian gelato.In third, it was Dondurma - a Turkish ice cream marked by a uniquely chewy, melt-free texture.It was followed by American frozen custard, Peruvian Cremolada (made by blending fresh fruit pulp with sugar and water) and Indian Kulfi.Italian delicacies made up four of the top ten, with Gelato making up most of them.The most liked flavour of the revered European ice cream was pistachio, which was ranked second, while hazelnut came in sixth. Gianduia gelato - a combination of milk and hazelnut - was number eight, followed by Tartufo di Pizzo; a ball of ice cream around a melted chocolate filling, rolled in bitter cocoa powder.The top 50 also included American brownie sundaes, South Korean Patbingsu - a shaved ice dessert - Puerto Rican 'Limber', made up of coconut milk, pineapple juice, and sweeteners, and French parfait.Meanwhile, clotted cream ice cream wasn't the only British dish to get a showing - with Knickerbocker Glory coming in at 44th place.
