Finland is heading into a cooler and wetter spell after a warmer-than-average June that brought more heatwave days than usual. Forecasters expect showers and thunderstorms across much of the country through the first half of July, although sunny intervals will still develop between weather systems.
The hot weather that closed June is giving way to a more unsettled pattern as low-pressure systems move across Northern Europe.
According to the Foreca weather blog and the latest monthly outlook from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), temperatures will return closer to seasonal levels while showers become more frequent during the coming days.
