Finland's Midsummer weekend has brought warm temperatures and dry conditions across much of the country, but forecasters say thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong wind gusts could disrupt the final day of the holiday.

The Finnish Meteorological Institute said a low-pressure system moving across Lapland on Sunday is expected to increase the likelihood of showers and thunderstorms nationwide after several days dominated by high pressure.

"Sunday and Saturday are the warmest days, with temperatures generally reaching 17 to 25 degrees," duty meteorologist Mikko Laine said in a forecast issued by the institute.

While much of Friday and Saturday remained dry, weather conditions are expected to change as colder Atlantic air pushes into Northern Europe and collides with a warmer air mass that has spread north from Western and Southern Europe.
