The Klassique galakonsert.

The long-awaited return of the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra (CPO) after a thirteen-year absence is set to be one of the definitive highlights of the Klein Karoo Klassique this August

Under the baton of the ever-popular maestro Richard Cock and joined on stage by the acclaimed South African pianist François du Toit, the Klassique Gala Concert promises a celebratory programme showcasing some of the most beloved masterpieces of the Classical and Romantic eras. Organisers have urged music lovers to secure their seats quickly, as tickets for the opening-night performance are selling fast.

Taking place at the Oudtshoorn Civic Centre on Friday 7 August at 7:00 pm, the concert provides a rare opportunity for regional audiences to experience a full professional symphony orchestra outside Cape Town.

According to Adriaan Fuchs, the Chief Executive and Artistic Director of the CPO, the evening will offer an accessible and engaging programme designed to captivate both lifelong classical music enthusiasts and first-time concertgoers. Fuchs notes that nothing compares to hearing a full symphony orchestra in person, as recordings simply cannot capture the scale, colour, power, and intricate teamwork of a live orchestral performance.
