A group of learners explored technical and operational career pathways during an immersive experience designed to connect young people with real-world industry opportunities.

Young people were given a rare opportunity to explore careers in manufacturing, engineering, skilled trades and hospitality during a Youth Month initiative aimed at exposing them to industries that are critical to South Africa's economy.

The Future Skills Experience, hosted by Kwikot at its Benoni headquarters, brought together learners, educators and industry stakeholders for an immersive look at the technical and operational careers that support the country's infrastructure.

South Africa continues to face a shortage of skilled artisans and technically trained professionals in sectors including infrastructure, construction, manufacturing, hospitality and energy.

The experience introduced learners to career opportunities in plumbing, welding, boilermaking, electrical work, fitting and turning, mechanical fitting, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), commercial kitchen support and hospitality operations, while also highlighting roles in supply chain, product innovation, installation, customer service, marketing and sector-specific solutions.
