The number of people injured in Russia's massive overnight missile and drone attack on Kyiv has risen to 56, while the capital has suffered extensive destruction.

The head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenko, announced this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"According to the available information, 56 people have now been confirmed injured, including two children," he said.

Tkachenko added that, as of 07:00, damage and destruction had been recorded at more than 30 locations across every district of Kyiv.

"There have been very serious direct strikes on residential buildings, where emergency crews are unfortunately recovering the bodies of those killed from under the rubble. Kyiv residents must never ignore air raid alerts. The Russians are deliberately targeting residential buildings. Last night once again demonstrated their terrorist nature," he said.
