The exercise comes shortly after the faction backed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and led by its governorship candidate, Maurice Vunobolki, also issued certificates of return to another set of candidates.
The deepening leadership crisis rocking the Adamawa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) escalated on Wednesday after the rival faction loyal to former Minister of Special Duties, Tanimu Turaki, presented certificates of return to its candidates for the National and State Assembly elections, barely days after a competing faction conducted a similar exercise.
At a ceremony held in Yola, the faction's caretaker committee chairman, Stephen Heluwa, alongside its governorship candidate, Caleb Andrew Myabagara, presented certificates of return to three senatorial candidates, eight House of Representatives candidates and 21 State House of Assembly candidates.
The exercise comes shortly after the faction backed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and led by its governorship candidate, Maurice Vunobolki, also issued certificates of return to another set of candidates.
The latest development has further exposed the widening crack within the opposition party, with two rival camps laying claim to the party's structure and fielding separate candidates for the same elective positions.
