Proteas Women's captain Laura Wolvaardt is ready to renew hostilities with England's returning captain Nat Sciver-Brunt in the ICC T20 World Cup semi-final at The Oval on Thursday.

Laura Wolvaardt is the first to admit that she has not yet fired at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, but the Proteas skipper is keen to rectify that in Thursday’s semi-final against England at The Oval. (Start 7:30pm SAST)

Wolvaardt has scored just 117 runs in five innings so far, with the Proteas relying on contributions from various individuals to get them over the line during the group stage.

While that’s admittedly not a bad thing, considering the Proteas’ over-reliance on Wolvaardt’s runs in the past, it’s knockout cricket now, where the skipper usually flourishes.

Wolvaardt has featured in three T20 World Cup semi-finals, striking an unbeaten 41 off 27 balls against Australia at the SCG (2020), 53 off 44 balls against England at Newlands (2022), and 42 off 37 balls against the Aussies in Dubai (2023) for a cumulative total of 136 runs at an average of 66 and a strike rate of 125.92.
