The death toll from the Russian barrage rose to eight on Thursday, July 2, authorities said, after Moscow launched a wave of missiles and drones at Kyiv overnight. Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, confirmed the updated toll in a Telegram post. “The death toll from the Russian attack has risen to 8,” Tkachenko said. He also condemned what he described as Russia’s deliberate targeting of residential areas and civilians. Residential areas hit across Kyiv The destroyed residential block became one of the clearest images of the overnight attack, which damaged homes and civilian infrastructure across the capital. Earlier, Kyiv officials reported destruction in several residential buildings, including damage to a nine-story building in the Desnianskyi district and partial destruction of a five-story residential building in the Darnytskyi district. A high-rise fire was also reported in the Holosiivskyi district, while a medical facility in the Shevchenkivskyi district was partially destroyed. Several medical workers were among those injured.
