MANILA, Philippines – San Miguel Corp. (SMC) subsidiary Masinloc Power Co. Ltd. (MPCL) secured regulatory approval to construct and own P1.7-billion transmission facilities to connect its 700-megawatt (MW) coal plant to the national grid.
In a decision dated June 30, the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) said the dedicated point-to-point limited transmission assets would be linked to the Castillejos Substation and Palauig Substation of the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP).

The ERC, however, rejected the company’s request to also operate and maintain the facilities, with these tasks assigned to the NGCP.
