MANILA, Philippines – Consunji-led Semirara Mining and Power Corp. (SMPC) has asked a Makati court to stop the Department of Energy (DOE) from requiring it to disclose detailed asset data for sharing with other bidders in the planned coal mine auction.
In a statement on Friday, the group said its plea seeks to clarify and not delay the auction.
that the government can take possession of the assets only if SMPC fails to remove them from the Semirara mine within a year after the deal lapses.
Its coal operating contract will expire in July of next year.
