Family members of the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yauri Local Government Area of Kebbi State, Alhaji Yusuf Alhassan, have regained their freedom after spending days in the custody of kidnappers, with reports indicating that their release came only after a ransom was paid.
The development was disclosed on Wednesday by Katsina-based conflict reporter Bakatsine in a post on X.
“Family members of Alhaji Yusuf Alhassan, APC Chairman in Yauri Local Government Area, have returned home after being held by kidnappers. Their release reportedly came after a ransom was paid,” Bakatsine wrote.
According to the security expert, the family expressed gratitude to everyone who stood by them in prayers throughout the period of captivity, “while praying for lasting peace and improved security across Nigeria.”
When contacted for comment, the spokesperson for the Kebbi State Police Command, SP Bashir Usman, did not respond to text messages or answer calls seeking his reaction to the development.
