NewsUK NewsWeatherThe UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has issued a new heat health alert across a large chunk of the country, bringing a 'greater risk to life' for vulnerable people13:56, 01 Jul 2026Updated 14:16, 01 Jul 2026A new heat health alert has been issued across a large chunk of the UK, bringing a "greater risk to life for vulnerable people" as Brits brace for a potential second heatwave.The yellow alert, issued across the south of England and parts of the Midlands, is in place from 12pm on Saturday July 4 until 5pm on Wednesday July 8.The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) said the upcoming hot spell could have an impact across health and social care services for those in the East Midlands, South East, South West, east of England and London.There is also an increased potential for indoor environments to become very warm, with the possibility of water‑related incidents increasing, including risks from cold‑water shock and drowning.The warning comes just days after the UK recorded its hottest ever temperature for June, with the mercury reaching a blistering 37.7C in Norfolk on Friday.The Met Office said a second heatwave was looking "increasingly likely," with high pressure from the Azures potentially pushing temperatures into the 30s in the coming days.Tony Wisson, Met Office deputy chief forecaster, said: "Toward the weekend, high pressure will continue to build in across most of the UK as it extends from the Azores.
