The Lagos State Government has postponed all Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) papers scheduled for Wednesday, July 1, following the declaration of the Oro Festival in parts of Ikorodu Division.

The state government announced the development saying the affected examination papers have been rescheduled for Tuesday, July 7, while all other papers will be conducted as originally scheduled.

According to the statement in a post on X on Tuesday, the decision was reached after consultations with relevant stakeholders and was aimed at ensuring the safety of candidates, examination officials and other participants.

The Lagos State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, through the Lagos State Examinations Board, said the 2026 BECE, which commenced on Monday, June 29, would continue uninterrupted except for the affected papers.

“This decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to safeguard the lives of candidates, examination personnel and other stakeholders, as well as to ensure the smooth and orderly conduct of the examination without disruption,” the statement said.
