The 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination will resume in Lagos State today (Thursday) after the state government postponed papers that were earlier scheduled for Wednesday, July 1, to observe the Oro Festival in parts of the Ikorodu Division.
Information Officer at the Department of Basic and Secondary Education, Lagos State Ministry of Education, Taiwo Badejo, confirmed to The PUNCH on Wednesday evening that the examinations will proceed as announced.
The Lagos State Examinations Board, under the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, announced a temporary adjustment to the examination timetable following consultations with relevant stakeholders and concerns about the safety of candidates, examination officials, and other participants.
The affected papers, originally scheduled for Wednesday, will now be held on Tuesday, July 7, while all other examination papers will proceed according to the initial timetable.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the board said the postponement was a precautionary measure to ensure the smooth conduct of the examination and to protect all stakeholders.
