Dr Kapil Narain and Jeremy Simpson stand alongside a photograph which is part of an exhibition at Rhodes House in Oxford, United Kingdom. The exhibition highlighted the Rhodes Must Fall campaign that began at the University of Cape Town in 2015.
Two former Durban volunteers paid tribute to the life of Archbishop Denis Hurley and the Denis Hurley Centre in Durban (DHC) at Oxford University in England recently.
Jeremy Simpson, a former volunteer at DHC, and Dr Kapil Narain, who was part of the speaker panel for the 2022 DHC Annual General Meeting, hosted Dr Raymond Perrier to give a talk at Rhodes House about the work done at DHC.
Of particular interest was the way in which the DHC brings together different faiths to serve side-by-side. Both are studying towards a Masters degree at Oxford, with a view to extending to a Doctorate.
Perrier, the director of the DHC, said he was privileged that the talk was attended by Professor Sir Rick Trainor, the Warden of Rhodes House. Trainor said,
