Mauritanian students now have the opportunity to apply for the prestigious Rhodes Scholarships through the West Africa constituency, enabling outstanding candidates to pursue fully funded postgraduate study at the University of Oxford.
Part of the globally renowned Rhodes Scholarships programme, the awards support exceptional all-round students undertaking full-time postgraduate degrees. The current application cycle is open to candidates who will begin their studies in October 2026.
Each year, three scholarships are awarded within the West Africa constituency, one of 25 constituencies worldwide through which Rhodes Scholars are selected. Notably, Mauritania is the only member of the Arab League included in this constituency, while applicants from other Arab countries apply through different regional groupings.
Successful candidates may pursue any full-time postgraduate course offered at Oxford, subject to the scholarship’s conditions and a limited number of exclusions. Applicants are encouraged to explore the university’s graduate course offerings through its A–Z guide and online search tools. Those selected for the scholarship must also submit a separate application for admission to their chosen academic programme at Oxford.
