The UK's Charity Commission is examining the Oxford Union's partnership with a Palestinian organisation linked to an alleged Hamas operative.

The Palestinian Forum in Britain co-promoted an Oxford Union ball inspired by Arab and Andalusian culture, held on 29th May.

Zaher Birawi, the forum's ex-chairman, was sanctioned by the US and described in Parliament as a senior Hamas operative in Europe.

Mr Birawi was accused of being a founding member of a body American officials said was "clandestinely controlled by Hamas," which was designated a terrorist organisation.
