Springbok centre Jesse Kriel and flyhalf Handre Pollard are two of the elder statesmen in the Boks' setup.

One look at how bionic Springboks centre Jesse Kriel is built suggests he will never let the old man in, but he nevertheless is aware that time waits for no man and never takes a day with the Springboks for granted.

The 32-year-old will play his 88th Test on Saturday at Ellis Park in the Nations Championship opener against England.

“My motivation hasn’t changed over the years; it is to play and represent my country. If anything, the motivation gets more and more as you get older because you understand better what you have,” Kriel reflected.

“When you are young, you don’t think it will ever come to an end. The older you get, the more you realise you can only play to a certain age, so every day gets increasingly special.
