Drones are to be banned from taking off and landing in all parks and public spaces in Brighton and Hove under a new public space protection order (PSPO), one of six set for consultation.
The Brighton and Hove City Council cabinet approved the consultation at a meeting at Hove Town Hall on Monday, on the basis of a report that said there was a history of drones being an issue.
‘Intrusive and dangerous’
The report said drones can be unsafe around children’s playgrounds and other recreational environments.
“We are having to think about how we legislate for new technology,” said Emma Daniel, the council’s cabinet member for children, families and youth services.
