The National Disability Insurance Scheme has exactly the right name, and it is intended to serve exactly the right purpose. In modern Australia nobody should lead a life without dignity by accident of birth. Every Australian should be insured against that possibility. And one of the federal government’s central functions is to act as a giant insurance company.It’s good that the NDIS was created. It’s bad that it was designed the way it was.
