I admire the chutzpah of Michael Traill and Lin Hatfield Dodds, who argued in their article “Big charity wants to take over the NDIS” for fewer, larger, better-resourced providers to manage the NDIS. However, their article might have been titled: “There’s nothing wrong with the NDIS that a bit less competition won’t fix.”Such thinking worked a treat in airlines, telecommunications and banking before Keating’s reforms in the 1980s. It’s still working brilliantly with supermarkets.Subscribe to gift this articleGift 5 articles to anyone you choose each month when you subscribe.Subscribe nowAlready a subscriber? I’m disabled. The last thing I need is NDIS run by big charities
Consolidating the sector into a few large providers is the opposite of what is needed. The future lies with participants who are supported to manage their own care.
