Virgin Australia will suspend its Brisbane-Apia service from 24 August 2026 as part of a small number of network changes linked to demand and global jet fuel prices.

In response to questions by the Samoa Observer, the airline confirmed the decision in a statement issued in May, saying the Brisbane-Apia route would be suspended indefinitely. The service is currently operating between one and five flights a week.

Virgin Australia said the decision was based on a range of factors, including the need to align capacity with demand and manage the impact of elevated global jet fuel prices.

“Virgin Australia has made a small number of targeted network adjustments, as the airline continues to manage the impact of elevated global jet fuel prices and align capacity with demand,” the statement said.

The airline said the affected routes amount to about 26 flights a week out of about 3,000 flights operated across its domestic and international network.
