Former and current teachers with principal Clarice Fortuin.

Wittebome High School celebrated its 70th anniversary honouring the educators who have influenced the lives of countless children over the years.

The Class of '79, two current teachers, and principal Clarice Fortuin organised a Teacher Appreciation High Tea.

"It was wonderful to reconnect with so many of our teachers," said Daryl Henning, chairperson of the alumni group. The idea for the reunion came about in February, he said, when Henning approached the school to promote his book Rainbows Beyond the Door, inspired by his experiences at the school.

The invitations extended to about 55 retired teachers, and 25 are current teachers, former principals, and other former staff members.
