The Commission for the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Communities (CRL Rights Commission) has established its inaugural Section 22 Committee for the Hindu community, a move aimed at strengthening engagement with Hindu organisations and promoting the constitutional rights of religious communities in South Africa.

The committee was launched in Chatsworth during a meeting chaired by CRL Rights Commission chairperson, Thoko Xaluva Mkhwanazi.

Addressing the newly appointed members, Mkhwanazi said the committee represents another step in fulfilling the Commission's constitutional mandate to promote and protect the rights of South Africa's cultural, religious and linguistic communities.

She said the committee would serve as a consultative and advisory body to strengthen dialogue between the Commission and the Hindu community, while ensuring that the concerns and priorities of the community are heard through structured engagement.
